Visite à Malte

Malte, 9 avril 2019 : visite de courtoisie à la Malta Map Society

En février dernier, un article intitulé «  Castellar, dans l’ombre de Malte, un village toujours connecté à Malte », a été publié dans le journal de la Malta Map Society (voir ci-joint : Castellar – In the shadows of Malta, a village forever connected to Malta) par Monsieur Rod Lyon, membre du comité exécutif .et chargé des relations internationales de l’association.

Suite à cela, le 9 avril dernier, dans l’après-midi, Pascal Brun, Adjoint au Maire de Castellar, accompagné de son épouse Almudena et leur fille Inès, a rendu visite au Docteur Albert Ganado, étant venus spécialement à Malte pour le rencontrer et discuter sur les nombreux liens existants entre Castellar et Malte.

Notre petit village a depuis longtemps des liens avec cette île.

Dans l’Histoire de Castellar, 30 chevaliers y sont originaires, le Grand Maître de l’Ordre y est né en 1560 (mort et enterré à Malte le 14 août 1657), et la maison ancestrale des Lascaris existe toujours et peut en partie se visiter, un petit musée leur est même consacré.

Le Docteur Ganado, Président et fondateur de la Malta Map Society, en présence de Joseph Schiro, Secrétaire Honoraire de l’association, ont offert l’apéritif de l’amitié, et proposé une collaboration avec comme projet, à court terme, de retourner à Malte au mois de novembre, pour participer à la commémoration des 10 ans de l’association…

Pascal Brun de son côté, a offert la médaille d’honneur de la Municipalité, au nom de Madame le Maire et du Conseil Municipal.

Geste bien apprécié par Le Docteur Ganado et la Malta Map Society.

Courtesy Visit

On 9th April, in the afternoon,Dr. Albert Ganado received the courtesy visit of Pascal BRUN,Assistant Mayor of Castellar(Alpes-Maritimes,France) who came with his wife Almudena and daughter Ines who had come to Malta specially to see him and discuss the many links between their village and Malta.

The small village of Castellar (1000 inhabitants) near the Italian border has long had connections to Malta because 30 Knights came from there and the Grand Master Jean-Paul Lascaris(born Castellar 1560, died August 14th, 1657 in Malta) The ancestral home of the Lascaris can still be seen and visited, and many mementoes of stalwart Lascaris Knights can be found. .

Pascal’s wife Almudena is a specialist in pre-history and found a lot to interest her in Malta. She is currently engaged in studies of the prehistoric Balzi Rossi caves at the frontier between France and Italy

Dr. Ganado , President and founder of the Malta Map Society, together with Joseph Schiro, Hon. Secretary of the Malta Map Society, offered the aperitif of friendship and collaboration to Monsieur Brun and his family,who will be returning to Malta in November to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations to be held for the Malta Map Society. Pascal Brun presented Dr. Ganado with the “Medaille d’Honneur of the municipality of Castellar.
